THC seltzer vs THC soda vs THC beer, and THC drinks vs gummies

Quick answer

THC seltzer, THC soda and "THC beer" all deliver the same thing: a measured dose of THC in a can. The difference is the drink around it. Seltzers are sparkling water with light flavor and little or no sugar. Sodas taste like a soft drink and usually have sugar. THC "beers" are alcohol-free beers with THC added. Gummies carry the same THC in a chew instead of a can: easier to carry, but no ritual and nothing to sip.

  • Pick a seltzer or zero-sugar can if you count calories.
  • Pick a juice-based soda if taste and a cocktail feel matter most.
  • Pick a gummy for a small, portable, no-fizz dose.

THC seltzer

A THC seltzer is sparkling water with natural flavor and a dose of THC, usually with no sugar and very few calories. It's the closest thing to a hard seltzer without the alcohol. The downside is that some seltzers taste thin, and the flavor of hemp extract can come through more in a light drink.

Our closest match is Raspberry Coconut: about 1 calorie and zero sugar per 12oz can, sweetened with sucralose and acesulfame K. Black Cherry is also zero sugar and 0 calories.

THC soda

A THC soda tastes like a soft drink: fuller flavor, often real juice, usually some sugar. It's the better choice if you want something that feels like a treat or a cocktail. Most Little Rick flavors sit here:

  • Mojito: 6% lime juice and mint, 40 calories, 7g sugar per can.
  • Raspberry Lemonade: 4% Sicilian lemon and 2% raspberry juice, 60 calories, 13g sugar.
  • Piña: 6% pineapple juice, 70 calories, 15g sugar.

Even the sweetest is lower in calories than a 12oz regular beer, which the CDC puts at about 150 calories.

THC "beer"

The THC beers sold as hemp products are generally alcohol-free beers with THC added. Alcohol drinks with hemp ingredients face extra federal review: the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau checks every alcohol formula that contains hemp and says the finished product cannot contain a controlled substance. If you love the taste of beer, an alcohol-free THC beer gives you the hops; if you mainly want the evening ritual, any can in a cold glass does the job.

THC spirits

A newer option is an alcohol-free THC "spirit" in a bottle. Ours hold 200mg THC per 750ml, so the dose depends on the pour: about 7.9mg per ounce. They're for mixing your own drinks and need measuring. Use our THC dosing calculator, or read THC spirits vs THC drinks.

THC drinks vs gummies

Drinks and gummies are both swallowed, so the THC takes the same route through your gut and liver. A widely cited pharmacology review puts the onset of swallowed THC at 30 to 90 minutes and the peak at 2 to 3 hours. Drinks are sometimes a little faster, but research comparing them directly is limited, so plan for a similar timeline with either.

FAQ

What's the difference between a THC seltzer and a THC soda?

A seltzer is sparkling water with light flavor and usually no sugar. A soda tastes like a soft drink and usually has some sugar or juice. Both carry the same THC.

Is THC beer alcoholic?

Usually not. The THC beers sold as hemp products are generally alcohol-free beers with THC added. Check the label: federal alcohol regulators review any alcohol drink with hemp ingredients, and the finished product cannot contain a controlled substance.

Do THC drinks work faster than gummies?

Sometimes slightly, but both are swallowed and follow the same route through your body. Expect 30 minutes to 2 hours either way.

Which Little Rick drinks are zero sugar?

Raspberry Coconut and Black Cherry. Mojito, Piña and Raspberry Lemonade contain some sugar.

Are THC drinks or gummies better for beginners?

Either works if the dose is low. A 5mg can is easy to pace because you can stop halfway; a 5mg gummy is easy to carry.
